Member Profile: Alyssa Harnish

When Alyssa won first prize in her Ephrata High School science fair, it was an indication of a future in science to come. But, for the time being, she concentrated on field hockey, softball and getting good grades. After graduation, she attended Shippensburg University, majoring in biology. And, for three years, she was an active member of the Shippensburg Rotaract Club.

Alyssa moved to West Chester in 2011. She works at TEKsystems, an IT Services Company where she is an Account Manager. Her clients are life sciences companies in biotech, pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and clinical research throughout North America, Europe, the Pacific Rim, and Asia. Her initial responsibility was to recruit IT specialists who could address a wide range of technical issues in life science fields. After two years, Alyssa was promoted to Account Manager – Enterprise Applications, Data Analysis and Insight. She communicates with clients around the world.

Alyssa Harnish, serves as the Assistant Governor in Southeastern PA District which supports the clubs in Central West Chester, Greater West Chester Sunrise, Paoli-Malvern-Berwyn, Phoenixville, Thorndale, Downingtown, Upper Main Line, West Chester, West Chester Passport, and Westtown- Goshen.

Alyssa joined the Westtown-Goshen Rotary club (WE-G0) in 2016 where she served as club president in 2020-2021 during the height of the COVID epidemic. “It could have been a time of turmoil, but we pivoted, went to virtual meetings and kept in full control of our activities and fellowship,” said Alyssa. “We’ve stayed a hybrid meeting club and see it as an opportunity to expand to a wider group of people”.

Alyssa is enjoying her third year as an AG. “I love the role! It’s the best job in Rotary! My favorite part is connecting people in different clubs to work together on projects to serve the community. It is so rewarding for everyone concerned.”
