LA Wildfire Relief Fund Announced
Southeastern PA Rotary District Governor, Francy Cross announced today that a fund has been set up to help support people affected by the disastrous fires in Los Angeles California. Cross also said that the $2,500 has been pledged from the SE PA District to kick off the campaign.
Funds will be gathered and sent directly Rotary District 5280 in the fire region so that the local Rotary Clubs can determine where the most needs are and ensure the funds are used effectively.
The devastating wildfires across Los Angeles that began on January 7, 2025, have led to the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of residents and destroyed over 10,000 structures, including many homes.
“We are people of service, we are people of compassion,” said Cross. “Together we make a difference and I challenge every club and individual in our District to support this effort.”
The California District encompasses more than 50 clubs in the LA County and surrounding communities which have been most impacted by the wildfires. Funds will be used to support:
Local organizations who are on the front-lines providing support to those in need (immediate needs),
Creating a Rotarian Relief Fund for any Rotarian negatively impacted by the wildfires (immediate needs),
Providing pass-through funding to our clubs who want to develop a service project that will benefit those impacted and our first responders (short and medium term),
Providing funds focusing on long-term support.
